Situated in lake country close to Winter Haven...Cypress is Central Florida's oldest theme park and is only an hour's drive away from the busy area of Orlando. The theme park was first opened in the 1930's, which included the beautiful 'botanical gardens' and the famous butterfly houses. These attractions are still here today along with wild life on display. Cypress has now become a popular park through out Florida! In 2003, the whole theme park went under a huge restoration programme and now displays over 30 rides, fantastic water-ski shows and fine ladies dressed in southern costumes wandering the gardens. Also under the new restoration programme, Splash Island Water Park was built within Cypress Gardens. So with a line up of Daily shows, All star concerts and
Seasonal events and if you don't mind the hours drive to get there, we recommend you give
this theme park a try. In the ten years we have travelled to Orlando, it was not until Christmas 2005 that we tried Cypress Gardens out. Overall, apart from Splash Island and some of the rides being closed, it was a nice day away from the main theme parks, and everybody in our family enjoyed the christmas festivities. We found the staff friendly and helpful and with a typical theme park flare for an assorted range of food and drink.
